Topical Tobramycin via Nasal Nebulization: New Clinical Test Demonstrates Low Serum Absorption

Serum peak & trough levels were drawn after four days of inhalation therapy at the 12th dose and revealed an average peak of 0.3 mcg /ml and an average trough of less than 0.1 mcg/ml. (In IV cases tobramycin levels would be managed to below 2.0 mcg /ml.) Ninety percent of patients reported being "better" after completing their course of therapy. No patients reported adverse side effects such as dizziness or tinnitus. Conclusion: These results further support the use of topical tobramycin as a safe method of medication administration via nasal nebulization for pseudomonas sinus infections. (PRWeb Mar 3, 2008)

Mupirocin may be useful in eliminating S. aureus biofilms present on the sinus mucosa of patients with CRS. Unit dose vials of this medication are now available by prescription through ENT and Allergy clinics. (PRWeb Feb 1, 2008)

'Sinus Science Pharmacy' Observes Positive Patient Outcomes when Patients Inhale Corticosteroids and Amphotericin B

Aerosol Science Laboratories, ASL Pharmacy a pharmacy that specializes in sinus care, has observed that patients respond positively to inhaled corticosteroids and Amphotericin B after 21 days of therapy. With more doctors focusing on treating the inflammation caused by sinus infections, rather than treating the infection itself, ASL Pharmacy can concur with physicians that a sequential therapy of corticosteroid followed by Amphotericin B (thought to possess anti-inflammatory properties of its own) has produced positive results in its patients. Because medication is inhaled rather than swallowed, more medication travels to the site of infection and less medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. (PRWeb Oct 17, 2007)

Science Pharmacy Discovers a New Approach for Fungal Sinusitis Using Aerosolized Amphotericin B

Inhaled Amphotericin B may be the answer to eradicating Allergic Fungal Sinusitis. It has been proven that Amphotericin B kills fungus and it is currently being used in liquid form by the irrigation method (squirting it up your nose). Some patients find this practice cumbersome, painful and sometimes messy. Aerosolized Amphotericin B is an alternative that can be easily inhaled into the sinuses as easily as smoking a cigarette, but without the side effects of liquid irrigations. Aerosolized Amphotericin B can help prevent and control Allergic Fungal Sinusitis. (PRWeb Aug 21, 2007)

ASL Pharmacy Improves Patient Compliance by Reducing Treatment Time

Aerosol Science Laboratories has changed its proprietary formulas on certain medications, which allow them to aerosolize faster than before. Faster aerosolization translates into shorter treatment time when a patient inhales sinus medication. With shorter treatment times, patients are more likely to begin and complete their course of therapy. (PRWeb Jul 17, 2007)
