Spanierman Modern Presents the Work of Contemporary Artist Dan Rizzie

Spanierman Modern is pleased to announce the opening on October 16, 2008 of "Dan Rizzie", an exhibition and sale of this contemporary artist's recent mixed media work. Focusing on a single form or motif, in his images, Rizzie creates meticulously detailed collage-like environments in which he blends a fastidious attention to detail with a pared-down minimalist approach with which he modifies nature rather than producing pure abstractions. A catalogue accompanying the exhibition includes an essay by Robert Hughes, the art critic for Time Magazine and the author of numerous books on art, along with twelve full-page color illustrations.
Spanierman Modern Gallery Presents an Exhibition of Betty Parsons Sculpture and Paintings

For over three decades, as a gallerist and dealer in the leading avant-garde artists of the mid- and late twentieth century (Newman, Pollock, Rauschenberg, Rothko, et al.), Betty Parsons held a critical position in the American art world. Yet her renown in showing so many artists long before their work became recognized, has overshadowed her genius as a painter. In the last decade and a half several exhibitions and publications have been devoted to Parsons's oeuvre, revealing its originality and her unique voice. (PRWeb Sep 17, 2008)

Spanierman Modern Gallery, NY Presents 'Tales: New Work by Jasmina Danowski', an Exhibition of Paintings by Brooklyn-based Artist

Spanierman Modern is pleased to announce the opening on May 8, 2008 of "Tales: New Work by Jasmina Danowski", including large-scale ink-on-paper works and smaller paintings in alkyd and oil on wood panels, honeycomb fiberglass, and canvas. In her second exhibition at Spanierman Modern, Danowski continues to show multi-layered gestural abstractions in which sensuous natural and biomorphic forms are suggested, while her chosen formats have spurred her to "broaden the spectrum" in a "search for depth and lightness" and a way of "pushing what the medium offers." (PRWeb May 7, 2008)
