Green Milk & Music Concert

Preschoolers at Prospect Latin School in Louisville Kentucky to learn about Kentucky's unique Celtic connection during a special St. Patrick's Day concert featuring. When Irish immigrants settled in the hills of Kentucky, they brought with them their Celtic tunes which evolved into Appalachian folk music, then Kentucky Bluegrass music, on into country music, followed by the rock-a-billy sounds of musicians like Elvis, followed by today's rock-n-roll, rap, and everything in between. "As educators, we know how important music is to the development of the brain's cognitive functions in areas like math and science" said Diane Deitel, Head of School. "And since Prospect Latin School has such a strong emphasis on the arts and music, we thought it would be appropriate to listen to music that has shaped much of the music we know and love today," The concert will be held Thur Mar 15th from 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon at 8907 U.S. Highway 42, Prospect, KY.
Louisville Latin School Boosts Math and English Brainpower by Teaching Piano and Latin

With all the hype about “No Child Left Behind” this election year, one Kentucky preschool is taking charge to make sure students excel in the building blocks of higher learning. This fall, eighty 3 and 4 year old students at Louisville Latin School (formerly The Plainview School, Inc.) began learning piano or Latin as a way to increase math, science, or literacy skills along with improving future SAT scores. To scientifically measure the impact of these programs, Louisville Latin School has partnered with the University of Louisville’s Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences to track each student’s progress in comparison to students in other pre-schools not receiving these programs.
