As a result, total annual Medicare spending on related hospitalizations has declined annually since 2002, according to a study funded and conducted by Cardiac Data Solutions, Inc., The study further concluded that the Medicare program saved more than $1 billion in fiscal year 2006 due to the lower heart attack rate and fewer admissions.
