Obama Should Withdraw Nomination of Eric Holder for Attorney General, Says Gallyprotest.org

As part of its new, year-long Political and Educational Integrity Campaign, Gallyprotest.org is calling on newly elected President Barack Obama to withdraw the nomination of Eric Holder for the position of Attorney General in light of troubling signs of a lack of thoroughness and failure to pursue what should have been considered to have been routine information-gathering techniques, as part of Holder's investigation (as an outside consultant, hired by Gallaudet University) of incidents involving the October 6, 2006 sit-in of the Hall Memorial Building at Gallaudet University. An apparent failure to analyze the facts of the matter of the sit-in and make conclusions as part of a proper context of the totality of the circumstances is also evident, says Gallyprotest.org, in Holder's final report to the University, providing evidence toward establishing Holder's lack of fitness for the office of Attorney General of the United States. Now, 20 years after the first major protest, and two years after the Unity for Gallaudet (UFG) protest at Gallaudet, members of the Deaf community and educators are making bold strides in calling for greater reform in Deaf education. Another anniversary gathering is scheduled for noon, Monday, March 10 in the Student Academic Center (SAC) on the Gallaudet campus in Washington, DC. (PRWeb Mar 10, 2008)

Shades of Political Golem Put Gallaudet University at Risk

A committee of commissioners of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is set to conduct a visit to Gallaudet University on April 13-15, 2008, in order to monitor compliance with MSCHE standards. Gallyprotest.org is hereby calling on the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to investigate signs that Gallaudet University has made no progress in complying with key components of MSCHE Standard 4, the Leadership and Governance standard. Clear signs exist indicating that the status quo policies of the former Jordan administration have not abated, but have become more deeply rooted, a state of affairs which poses serious long-term consequences for Gallaudet University and the entire academic community.
Inquiry Called for in Case of Press Coverage of Gallaudet University

Gallyprotest.org is hereby calling upon the Chronicle of Higher Education (CHE) to conduct an internal inquiry to uncover facts relating to recent revisions made to a CHE article focusing on current educational changes occurring Gallaudet University, a university for the deaf. An online article published by the Chronicle of Higher Education on October 16, 2007 has been revised for its printed edition of October 26, 2007. However, the revisions made are unsatisfactory and should be reviewed for possible breaches of journalistic standards and should also be reviewed for possible retraction of said article. Both the original article and its revision contain errors which pose significant detrimental social consequences as they relate to the education of the deaf. (PRWeb Oct 23, 2007)
